Captain Ken takes place in the future, when Earth has already colonized Mars as the new frontier. The story opens up with a diary entry from a Martian recalling the history of how the Earthlings came to be the supreme rulers of Mars.<\/em><\/p>\n

“It started in the year 1983, when these ‘Earthlings’ landed on our home. Our ancestors approached the strange creatures, but that was when their terror began…we didn’t know for how long this dark period would last. Then one day, he came…”<\/em><\/p>\n

This savior is Captain Ken. He’s a mysterious, young gunslinger from Earth who travels to Mars with his trusty sidekick and gadget-horse, Arrow. Ken and his friends soon find themselves caught between the cross fires of the Martian and Earthlings as the tension between the two species escalates. It’s Tezuka’s epic adventure full of “thrilling mysteries, assassination plots, and interplanetary conspirators” that is sure to be a great addition your manga collection.<\/em><\/p>\n

What you should know<\/h3>\n

Captain Ken<\/em><\/a> was published as DMP’s third Tezuka Kickstarter campaign, after the Swallowing the Earth<\/em><\/a> Reprint, Barbara<\/em><\/a>, and the Tezuka “Family Pack” featuring\u00a0Unico<\/a><\/em>, Atom Cat<\/a><\/em>, and Triton of the Sea<\/em><\/a>\u00a0. \u00a0In June 2014,\u00a0451 backers pledged $19,253 (of a $13,000 goal) to see Tezuka’s “Cowboys and Aliens” shonen adventure published in English for the first time.<\/p>\n

As with nearly all of\u00a0DMP<\/a>\u2019s editions,\u00a0Captain Ken<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was published unflipped <\/strong>in the original right-to-left Japanese reading style. The English edition was published in two volumes, 200 and 210 pages<\/strong> in length and is printed in the A5<\/strong> (5.875″x8.25″) format. \u00a0In 2015, a digital edition was released<\/a> and is available on DMP’s emanga.com<\/a> website for legal download in a number of popular formats (ePub, CBR\/CBZ, PDF, etc.).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
