Distinguishing Features<\/h3>\n

As a dog, Ben is easy to spot with his big bright eyes and shinny grey coat. He’s also got four-pointed star on his forehead.<\/p>\n

Status: Primary Star (\u2605\u2605\u2605)<\/h3>\n

Noble and heroic, Ben comes from the pantheon of Tezuka animal heroes, such as Dan<\/a>, the tiger and titular character from Brave Dan<\/em> (1962)<\/a> and Don<\/a>, another canine hero who appears in the Lion Books<\/em> chapter “Muse and Don” (1972).<\/p>\n

Notable\u00a0Roles<\/h3>\n

Besides his starring role\u00a0as the titular canine hero of Flying Ben<\/em> (1966-67), he has also made a couple of cameo appearances, most notably in the Black Jack<\/em> (1973-83)<\/a> chapter\u00a0“A Girl who became a Bird” (1973).<\/p>\n
