What you should know<\/h3>\n

Drawn in a much less “cartoony” style than most of Tezuka’s manga work,\u00a0Adolf<\/em>\u00a0is a commentary on the social impact of the second world war – telling the story of three individuals named “Adolf”: a Jewish boy living in Japan, a half-Japanese\/half-German boy, and the infamous leader of Nazi Germany.<\/p>\n

Although\u00a0VIZ Media<\/a>\u00a0originally released the series as\u00a0<\/a>Adolf<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in 1995 through Cadence Books, featuring photo-realistic rather than Tezuka-drawn manga covers, the\u00a0Vertical Inc.<\/a>\u00a0edition is not merely a reprint.\u00a0 It has been completely re-translated and is arguably much closer to the original Japanese version, incorporating many of the subtle nuances the earlier translation may have glossed over.<\/p>\n

Like many of \u00a0releases, Message to Adolf \u00a0<\/em>was\u00a0released with \u201cflipped\u201d artwork in order to make the reading order (left to right) more palatable for the average English-speaking fan.
