In Russia, on the eve of the revolution, a young student named Raskolnikov murders an old pawnbroker over a pocket watch. Although an innocent man is quickly arrested for the crime, Raskolnikovs\u2019s own published essay \u2013 suggesting that people who are \u201cextra-ordinary\u201d are above such things as \u201cright\u201d and \u201cwrong\u201d \u2013 draws the suspicion of judge Porfiry. Who will catch up to Raskolnikov first? Porfiry \u2026 or his own guilty conscience?<\/em><\/p>\n

Crime and Punishment<\/a><\/em>\u00a0was released in 2015\u00a0as part of DMP\u2019s\u00a0Digital Manga Guild<\/a>\u00a0initiative as as a digital-only release.\u00a0 It is\u00a0available for legal download on the emanga.com website<\/a> in a variety of popular reading formats (ePub, CBR\/CBZ, PDF, etc.).<\/p>\n

In 2015 a print edition was also successfully funded as part of the\u00a0Kickstarter campaign to publish Storm Fairy<\/a><\/em> in English. \u00a0In total, 625\u00a0backers pledged $38,142 (of $14,200 goal) and,\u00a0after\u00a0the first stretch goals to not only reprint\u00a0Uncio<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(at $26,000) but actually re-publish it using higher quality colouring (at $27,000) and paper were both met,\u00a0the print edition (to replace the digital-only edition) of Crime and Punishment<\/a><\/em>\u00a0was secured as the second\u00a0stretch goal once\u00a0the campaign reached the $32,500 mark.<\/p>\n

Although this is actually the second time\u00a0Crime and Punishment<\/a><\/em>\u00a0has been published in English, the\u00a0DMP<\/a>\u00a0edition marks the first time it has been published in North America. \u00a0It is a welcome replacement for the long out-of-print and nearly impossible to find bilingual edition that was released by the Japan Times in 1990<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
