{"id":655,"date":"2014-01-16T04:33:26","date_gmt":"2014-01-16T04:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=655"},"modified":"2023-02-16T21:05:52","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T21:05:52","slug":"chapter-summaries","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=655","title":{"rendered":"I.L (Big Comic)"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_10088\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/il.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10088\" class=\"wp-image-10088 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/il.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/il.jpg 190w, https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/il-60x84.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10088\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Big Comic<\/em><br \/>December 10, 1969<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Following hot on the heels of <a title=\"Swallowing the Earth (Manga)\" href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=795\"><em>Swallowing the Earth<\/em> (1968-69)<\/a>, Tezuka\u2019s next project, <em>I.L<\/em> (pronounced \u201cAye-El\u201d), was originally intended to a more straight-forward &#8220;comic for men&#8221; (as the name of the publication itself implied), however eventually became more of a &#8220;fairy tale for adults&#8221; instead.<\/p>\n<p><em>I.L<\/em> (1969-70) began it&#8217;s bi-weekly\u00a0schedule on August 10, 1969 and, with a new chapter appearing on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> and 25<sup>th<\/sup> of each month, the series ran for a total of\u00a014 chapters before coming to a close on March 25 1970.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike <a title=\"Swallowing the Earth (Manga)\" href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=795\"><em>Swallowing the Earth<\/em> (1968-69)<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; where he wavered back and forth between making it a long-form story or a stand-alone chapter format and ultimately ended up making it neither &#8211; with\u00a0<em>I.L<\/em> (1969-70) Tezuka had learned his lesson. \u00a0Instead, he decided to publish it st as a collection of independent-but-connected episodes held together by a very loose story framework.<\/p>\n<p>And so, all but one of the chapters appeared as a complete all-in-one story. \u00a0The lone exception was the last one, &#8216;The Hyenas&#8217;, \u00a0which was serialized over the course of final three issues.<\/p>\n<h3>Publication Information and Chapter Summaries<\/h3>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"manga-summary-chapter\">001<\/div>\n<div class=\"manga-summary-title\"><a id=\"doll\"><\/a> The Doll <span class=\"lang-jp\">(\u7bb1\u306e\u5973)<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"manga-summary-published-in\"><a title=\"Big Comic\" href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=476\">Big Comic<\/a> <span class=\"lang-jp\">(\u30d3\u30c3\u30b0\u30b3\u30df\u30c3\u30af)<\/span> <\/div>\n<div class=\"manga-summary-published-on\">1969\/08\/10<\/div>\n<div class=\"manga-summary-sum\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=7641\">Imari Daisuke<\/a>, a movie director disillusioned with his profession, visits the mansion of Count\u00a0Alucard on the advice of a street fortune-teller. I.L&#8217;s client wants her to act as a substitute for the mannequin while he sets a time bomb on the real one. \u00a0And to make matters worse, I.L falls in love with the conspirator.<\/div>\n<div executives of what she has just seen, he confides that it was the president&#8217;s premeditated suicide. \u00a0Because the president was infertile, she was afraid that her family line would die out, a spiral shell dug out of a shell mound. \u00a0It is so deadly that only a small portion can kill a person without causing any pain. \u00a0While the husband is hesitating, his wife takes the drug and dies before he can stop her. \u00a0Realizing that I.L has witnessed the incident, the hospital director attempts to kill her in order to keep the secret of the poison.<\/div>\n<div years. \u00a0One day, an actress named Gomoku Sobame, whom Deshibara always liked to use in his movies, strangely commits suicide. \u00a0In an effort to discover the truth of the incident, <a href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=7641\">Imari<\/a>\u00a0has I.L turn into a voluptuous actress whom Deshibara should not be able to resist. \u00a0What I.L sees in Deshibara&#8217;s her. \u00a0Miyuki asks I.L to turn into an attractive woman retaining her voice and physique and go to see him. \u00a0Although I.L tries to meet the request, Akira recognizes instantly that she is not had deserted him to run away with another man. \u00a0She tells <a href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=7641\">Imari <\/a>that she is now running a Japanese restaurant all by herself, having broken up with the other man. \u00a0She says that she wants to get back together with <a href=\"https:\/\/tezuka.strobez.ca\/wp\/?page_id=7641\">Imari<\/a>.
