Olga. It’s an East Slavic female given name, derived from the Old Norse name Helga. meaning “holy” or “blessed.”<\/p>\n
Olga stands out in a crowd, with her oversized lion’s mane hairdo, and her signature “roman-centurian” style headband.<\/p>\n
Despite being a robot, Olga has a strong sense of loyalty and duty, which gives her a nurturing, almost mother-like quality. As such, she’s perfectly cast as a robot caretaker and\/or assistant that displays an undying loyalty to her charge.<\/p>\n
Olga has the distinction of being a rare case of Osamu Tezuka’s anime making its way into his manga, rather than the other way around. She originally made her on-screen debut in the animated feature Phoenix 2772<\/em> (1980), which was released March 15, 1980. She was also featured in the subsequent manga adaptation serialized in Manga Shonen<\/em>. Although taken from Osamu Tezuka’s original story, it was drawn by Mikuriya Satomi, who was in charge of the anime’s mechanical design.
